How to Get to Baguio from Manila: All Transport Options Compared

Overview: Manila to Baguio

Baguio City is approximately 250 kilometers north of Manila. Depending on your chosen mode of transport, the journey takes between 4 to 7 hours. Here's a complete breakdown of every option.

Option 1: Bus (Most Popular)

The bus is the most common and budget-friendly way to reach Baguio.

Victory Liner

  • Routes: Cubao, Pasay, and Monumento terminals → Baguio
  • Travel time: 4–6 hours (depending on traffic)
  • Price: ₱500–₱800 (regular aircon) | ₱800–₱1,200 (deluxe/first class)
  • Frequency: Buses depart every 30–60 minutes, 24/7

JoyBus (Genesis Transport)

  • Routes: Cubao, Pasay, and Avenida → Baguio
  • Travel time: 4–5 hours (express, fewer stops)
  • Price: ₱700–₱1,000 (deluxe with onboard CR and snacks)
  • Frequency: Hourly departures

Solid North

  • Routes: Cubao and PITX → Baguio
  • Travel time: 5–6 hours
  • Price: ₱450–₱700
  • Frequency: Regular departures throughout the day

Pro tip: Book your bus ticket online through the Victory Liner or JoyBus websites, especially during peak seasons and weekends.

Option 2: Private Car / Drive

Driving to Baguio gives you the most flexibility.

  • Routes: NLEX → SCTEX → TPLEX → Kennon Road / Marcos Highway / Naguilian Road
  • Travel time: 4–5 hours (without heavy traffic)
  • Cost: Approximately ₱1,500–₱2,500 (tolls + fuel, one way)
  • Best route: TPLEX then Marcos Highway — it's the safest and least steep

Important: Kennon Road is the shortest but can be closed during heavy rains. Always check road conditions before departing.

Option 3: Van (Fastest Public Transport)

Shared vans are a faster but tighter option.

  • Routes: Various terminals in Cubao and Manila → Baguio
  • Travel time: 3.5–5 hours
  • Price: ₱600–₱1,000 per person
  • Note: Vans depart when full and may have limited luggage space

Option 4: Fly + Bus (For International/Via Travelers)

There are no direct commercial flights to Baguio (Loakan Airport is currently limited). The nearest option:

  • Fly to Clark International Airport (Pampanga)
  • Take a bus or van from Dau Terminal to Baguio (2–3 hours)
